Here at Ellishadder Art Cafe we are committed to caring for the environment and trying to live in a more sustainable way. Please read about some of the ways we try to do this.

The Building.

The flooring throughout the building is from natural materials; wood in the main cafe area and stone in the hallway, WC and kitchen areas.

Environmentally friendly paints are used to decorate inside the building. Only naturally sourced raw materials are used to produce the carbon and VOC free paint.

A wood burning stove is the main heating source in the café and gallery area, using renewable, carbon neutral fuel.

Outside the Art Café we have used natural materials for the landscaping: wood and stone.

Native species, specific to the area are primarily used in the planting schemes, including wildflowers and broad leaved trees and shrubs.

We encourage wild birds, by providing bird feeders.

All of our waste water is treated in a 100% natural system, without additives, using peat fibre.
