Maggie designs and handweaves a variety of high quality rugs and interior accessories.
The rugs are woven on a 4 shaft floor loom, using a variety of weave structures.
The warp (the threads that run vertically) is made from 100% cotton and is doubled at the selvedges for extra resilience.
The majority of the rugs use 100% lambswool for the weft (the horizontal threads that produce the pattern), which is supplied by JC Rennie in Aberdeenshire. They have been manufacturing yarns since 1798 and have the reputation of stocking some of the world's best lambswool qualities. All their wool is now spun using 100% green sourced electricity.
Also used is 'single breed' British wool, such as Herdwick or Swaledale, for some of the natural coloured, undyed rugs.
The fringes are finished with a 'square sennit' technique, which provides a neat finish and prevents the warp ends from fraying.
Each design in the gallery is available to purchase, or alternatively, Maggie offers a full bespoke service, allowing something entirely new to be created to your individual specification.
